9 digit zip code

Zip-Codes.com shows 9 digit zip.

Give it a # street like 124 Maple St.

Give it a city state like Chicago IL

It will show the 5 and or 5+4 digit zip code.

FamilyTreeNow.com   If you know a person's name & a city where they once lived, you can find current address & phone to where they now live.

Say I look up an address for Tom Jones, Denver     in Family Tree Now,

I see his # street

Then I look up the # street in Zip-Codes.com  to find the 9 digit zip for that address.

I enter:

124 Maple St.

Denver

CO

it shows the zip 80556-1263

Then I look up 122 & 123 Maple St., and 125 & 126 Maple St.

If any of those other addresses also share that same 5+4 digit zip code, -1263

then the 90556-1263 is not unique to that 124 Maple St..

I've looked up the 5+3 digit zip of about 1,000 of the addresses I have.

I found 454 addresses where the last 4 digits are unique to the address.

If there is an apartment #, box #, or other info. on the address, include it as it is beyond the 9 digit zip..

Then I may use this complete address (just 9 digit zip) to mail to Tom

90556-1263

                              or

Apt. 2

90556-1263

My complete address is

Ted Elden.

[ 25301-9999].

In my case, I must include the name, as I get General Delivery at the main Post Office.

I mail 100 to 200 pieces of mail each week, it is fun to wake people up.

A 5 digit zip code can be used in lieu of writing a city, state

A unique 9 digit zip can be used in lieu of writing out a street address.

No name is needed, if those at the address will know who it is for.

Otherwise, put at least the first name, or nick name.

Some people search law, codes, statues  & written regulations.

I use simple logic & I test to know what works.

You know that Lance received this mail shown above because, it has:

- postmark (Charleston & date)

- bar code.

It is a scan or photo of the package as he received it .  He texted or e-mailed that image to me.

If I'd put postage stamp on it, I'd expect to see the stamp canceled, but when I use free postage Tax Percue, then it is typically not canceled.

The 9 digit zip code, in this case is a complete delivery address

I did not need to put Lance's name as he is known at that location.

Anyone there would give that mail to him.

Note: I put a box around a complete address, or square brackets around a zip code.

That removes all presumptions of US Code.
